The second anchor store at Bingley’s 5Rise centre is to open on Saturday.

Developers of the £5m project said they hope the opening of Home Bargains will encourage more traders to let the centre’s remaining available units. Home Bargains has said its £500,000 investment will bring about 40 new jobs to the town.

Paul Lancaster, managing director of developers 4Urban, said: “It’s great news because it means we have got both our anchor stores. This is the second largest unit in the development at 7,5000 square feet.

“Up until the re-opening of 5Rise there hasn’t been a reason for the residents of Bingley to stay and shop in their own town.

“Now they have got the Co-op and with Home Bargains opening on Saturday there is a real reason for them to stay within their own town.”

David Dinsey, Bradford Council’s town centre manager for Bingley, said: “Obviously it is a welcome addition to the town and to the 5Rise and it will provide a lot of footfall which will benefit all the shops.

“I think we were hopeful that 4Urban would find another large retailer which they have done.”

Joe Morris, operations director at Home Bargains, said: “Home Bargains is excited to be opening this new store in Bingley, building further on the success of our eight existing local stores.

“Bingley will be a great location for us.

“We’re thrilled to be in a position to offer local people even more top branded goods at exceptionally low prices.”
