Line-up for Alhambra, St George's Hall and The Studio is revealed

Work by Alfred Hitchcock, Spike Milligan and Alan Bennett will be brought to the stage in Bradford next year.

Bradford Theatres has revealed its line-up of productions and acts coming to the city’s entertainment venues for the spring season.

Top of the bill are two hit comedies and comedy thriller The 39 Steps.

Fresh from Broadway, the West End and international tours, John Buchan’s production of Alfred Hitch-cock’s classic spy thriller won Best New Comedy at The Olivier Awards. It will be at the Alhambra Theatre from Monday, February 15, to Saturday, February 20.

It will be followed at the Alhambra by Spike Milligan’s Adolf Hitler: My Part in His Downfall. The Goon star’s celebrated war memoirs are a fusion of comedy, song and dance. The show runs from Monday, February 22 to Saturday, February 27.

The original West End cast of Alan Bennett’s Enjoy arrives at the Alhambra in April. The play, starring Alison Steadman and David Troughton, is set in the writer’s home town of Leeds where an ageing couple are living in the city’s last back-to-back. With the demolition of the area in progress, Wilf and Connie are soon to be re-housed, but things take a turn when a sociologist comes to observe their daily life. Enjoy runs from Monday, April 19, to Saturday, April 24.

Also at the Alhambra will be Swan Lake, The Rocky Horror Show, the Moscow State Circus and The Hobbit.

The spring line-up for St George’s Hall includes the Bradford & District Schools Choir Competition, retro rock ‘n’ roll show That’ll Be The Day, Ocean Colour Scene, Editors, Peter Andre, Derren Brown, Strictly Come Dancing’s Anton Du Beke and Erin Boag, Most Haunted Live on Stage, Peppa Pig’s Party and Dave Gorman.

Highlights at The Studio include the Bag of Quips stand-up comedy show and Sean Hughes.

Adam Renton, Bradford Theatres general manager said: “We’re offering the best in drama.

“You can’t fail to find something you’ll enjoy this season.”
