It’s all go for this year’s bonfire next Saturday in Myrtle Park, Bingley

The fire will be lit at 7pm, followed by a stunning display of fireworks at 7.30pm.

Proceeds from the bonfire will be going to local charities and good causes.

Tickets, which cost £5 per person (under-12s free), are available at the gate, which opens at 6pm. Featuring the Pulse roadshow, the event is sponsored by Premier Vanguard.

Other bonfire and firework displays in the district include one at Baildon Rugby Club’s Jenny Lane ground next Saturday, from 7pm, and a monster stunt and firework display at Grattan Stadium, Odsal, at 7.45pm next Friday. Tickets for Grattan Stadium are £10 for adults and £5 for children. The Devonshire Arms, Bolton Abbey, will hold a celebration on Thursday, from 6pm, in support of the Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, Oxenhope.

The St Ives Young Disabled Unit, at St Ives Estate, Bingley, is also holding a bonfire on Thursday, as is the Guide Inn at Hainworth, where all proceeds will be donated to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Festivities start at 6pm, and admission is £3 for adults and £1.50 for children.

If you want to enjoy your fireworks in comfort, then head for the Six Acres restaurant and carvery on Westgate Hill Street, near Drighlington, which is hosting a bonfire extravaganza and firework display from 6pm onwards on Thursday. There will be an open-air stage, DJ and disco, traditional bonfire food, giveaways, children’s rides and a sweet stall.

Street and break dancers will be providing the entertainment tonight at a Halloween party at the Brown Cow, Bingley. The event is to raise cash for the Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice. The event starts at 4pm and will include a buffet, raffle and music by Jed’s Blues Band, from 9pm.

Until tomorrow, children can help the Wizard Scarecrow with his spells on a story journey at Harewood House. From 10am until 4pm, join Wendy the witch and her fairy helper in the Enchanted Forest marquee with their potions and bubbling cauldrons. She’ll be making wish-catchers and lots of Halloween-themed crafts that’ll be yours to take home.

Fancy a lazy day tomorrow? The Impressions Galley in Centenary Square is hosting the first of its regular Lazy Sunday events, where you can lounge around and enjoy a light-hearted afternoon of all things apocalyptic in association with OK Comics. From 12.30pm until 4.30pm, its Drink And Draw, where like-minded comic fans and budding artists can meet and exchange ideas. From 2pm to 2.45pm, journalist Michael Molcher will take a satirical look at our fascination with the end of the world. While you are there, why not browse the selection of apocalypse-themed comic books, graphic novels and magazines over a wedge of cake?

Fans of the Jools Holland Rhythm’n’Blues Orchestra are in for a real treat during an evening with The Cat Pack 19-piece big band at Bingley Arts Centre next Friday at 8pm. This will be a high-octane journey through many of the great big band styles from swing through to rhythm’n’blues, boogie-woogie, lounge and beyond, delivered in the band’s truly dazzling show.

Get your tickets now for Disney’s 3D version of A Christmas Carol, which is coming to the National Media Museum next week. Directed by Oscar-winning Robert Zemeckis, the animated film features the voices of Jim Carrey, Gary Oldman, Colin Firth and Robin Wright. It opens at the IMAX screen on Friday, and tickets cost £8 or £6 concessions.
