Gaynor replaces Hayley in Bradford panto

The last time Gaynor Faye appeared at the Alhambra she stripped off on stage – but she’ll be keeping her clothes on for her latest role, in this year’s pantomime.

The Leeds actress, who starred in Calendar Girls at the theatre earlier this year, is to join the cast of Jack and the Beanstalk, starring opposite Billy Pearce.

Gaynor will play Jill to Billy’s Jack, replacing former Emmerdale star Hayley Tamaddon who will no longer be in the show due to TV commitments. The daughter of TV writer Kay Mellor, Gaynor shot to fame in Coronation Street and has also appeared in Playing the Field, Fat Friends and The Chase.

The actress recently completed a run of Calendar Girls, a play based on the Rylstone and District WI’s nude charity calendar, in London’s West End. Joining Gaynor and Billy in Jack and the Beanstalk is Leanne Jones, Olivier Award-winning star of hit West End musical Hairspray.

Jack and the Beanstalk runs at the Alhambra from December 12 to January 31, 2010. Tickets are available on (01274) 432000.
