Artist Chiz Turnross’s collection of 1,000 bird paintings are on display at the Bradford 1 Gallery in Centenary Square to celebrate the bicentenary of the birth of Charles Darwin.
The paintings were created in one year and first shown at the Liverpool Biennale.
Part of the exhibition comprises new paintings of the finches that Darwin encountered on the Galapagos islands, plus 30 paintings which have been bought for Bradford Council’s museums and galleries’ permanent art collection.
Darwin stayed in Ilkley in 1859 and these links have been celebrated during the anniversary year. The exhibition runs until November 22.
