Beauty is in the genes for this family.
Suzanne Celensu is hoping to follow in the footsteps of her mum Zoe, aunt Gay and grandma Betty, all former beauty queens, when she takes part in the Grand Final of Miss Earth UK.
Suzanne, of Cleckheaton, is the next generation to take to the catwalk. Identical twins Zoe – the eldest by 25 minutes – and Gay were encouraged into competing in beauty contests by mum Betty, a former beauty queen herself.
In the seventies the Spink twins became the queens of beauty contests. Zoe was the first on the circuit and having seen her sister’s success Gay was keen to match it.
The pair travelled the world, filming in exotic locations and rubbing shoulders with celebrities, before retiring to concentrate on marriage and motherhood.
Suzanne is now carrying on the family tradition, having entered her first beauty contest four years ago.
An accomplished tennis player and sportswoman with a masters degree in business, Suzanne is counting on the public to help her win the crown by voting for her in the competition which promotes women who are ‘strong and effective advocates for Mother Earth’.
In her profile on the competition website, animal lover Suzanne, says: “I will always be a great believer in animal rights and will always do my best in keeping the world a more natural and healthier place to live.”
Suzanne’s environmental belief is that everyone can do their bit to save the planet.
“One person can make a huge difference on the Earth!” she said.
“If people can act in good ways that others will aspire to, such as being part of the Miss Earth organisation and competition then chain reactions can occur in order to spread good environmental behaviour from person to person and the world will become a better place. One person makes a significant difference!”

Just had to reply to the comments above because you are all being really unfair to this girl. Firstly to lonniejockstrap the article says that her mum and aunt travelled to 'film in exotic places' when they were beauty queens which I'm guessing would have been decades ago before anyone knew about global warming so you can't reasonably hold her responsible! As for the comments about her looks this clearly isn't a great photo as she isn't even smiling and it is taken at an angle which makes you look slimmer and when someone suffers from anorexia a photo like this would show bones through the skin. If you bothered to look at the second photo where she is with her family you would see I am right! Good luck Suzanne and don't listen to these fools.

As for raising the profile of Environmental issues, well this is the first time I have heard of their 'work' and this is their 9th year of 'raising the profile'!
lonniejockstrap I was unaware that the final competition was in the Philippines though this is the fault of the competition organisers rather than this girl. They would probably argue though that the raising the profile of environmental issues does more for the environment than the cost of the flights does harm.

Air travel is a growing contributor to climate change carbon dioxide emissions from aviation could make up around 10 per cent of the UK’s total carbon dioxide emissions by 2020.
How does travelling around the World by Airplane to 'film in exotic places' 'spread good environmental behaviour'? Good luck in the competition anyway.
