Bradford regeneration project details sent to businesses

Tender packs have gone out to five companies wanting to bid for the contract to build Bradford’s £24.4 million City Park.

The project was given the final go-ahead earlier this week when it was confirmed Yorkshire Forward would add to the money put up by Bradford Council.

Out of the 16 firms which expressed an interest in competing for the contract, a shortlist of five has received full details. A contractor will be appointed by the end of September with work expected to start on the site in the autumn.

The 16 were whittled down with the help of a series of questions including indicating how they would cope with the complex engineering the project presents, retaining public access across the site, and controlling the project costs.

Councillor Adrian Naylor, the Council’s executive member for regeneration and economy, said: “It marks a key stage in Bradford’s regeneration and demonstrates the public sector commitment to investing in the city’s future.”

Tom Riordan, chief executive of Yorkshire Forward, said: “These infrastructure works are part of our ongoing investment in the city centre and our ongoing partnership with Bradford Centre Regeneration, Bradford Council and the Homes and Communities Agency to bring the masterplan to fruition.”

The Council has agreed to press on with a reduced scheme which does not include Norfolk Gardens because the money is available and could otherwise be lost.

the two murphy brothers have quoted £50:when asked how they could do it for that they said one brother would start at one side and the other across the way and they join it in the middle:!! the architect asked what happened if they missed each other?

the answer------- mmmmmmmmmm you get two parks for the price of one!!! and maybe we can sort Broadway out as well!!

after an hour's deliberation the council agreed the plan and paid up front.

the brothers have since disappeared.

Does the T&A get paid by Bradford Council? I don't think I have ever seen a negative story about the council on here. If I had landed here today from mars, no wait Neptune (it is the furthest from the sun) I would think the council are terrifick! But I am not from Neptune and I see the colusion!

@ ItchyBungle - i seem to recall about a month back the T&A criticised the Council about its handling of the car park situation at Hanson School on Myers Lane in 3 or 4 articles!
