Three men have been locked up to be sentenced tomorrow for sexually abusing a vulnerable young teenage girl.

The jury at Bradford Crown Court today returned verdicts on five defendants charged with a total of 28 offences, including rape, sexual activity with a child and sexual assault.

Mohammed Zackriya, 21, of Springfield Road, Keighley, was convicted of raping the girl when she was 14 at a house in Parkwood Street, Keighley. He was also found guilty of five offences of sexual activity with her. Zackriya was cleared of three offences of rape and two of sexual activity with a child.

Mohammed Shabir, 36, a father-of-five, of Hawk Street, Keighley, was convicted of three offences of sexual activity with a child. He was acquitted of rape, two offences of sexual activity with a child and one of sexual assault.

The jury was told that wig-wearing Shabir, nicknamed Shabby, was 19 years older than the girl. He pestered her for sex after she met him when she was 14.

She knew him as a boss of Caesars pizza restaurant, on Newmarket Street, Skipton, where she went after school for food.

Also convicted was Mohammed Taj, 37, of Broughton Road, Skipton. The jury found him guilty of three offences of sexual activity with a child and cleared him of one.

Abid Ali, 27, of Cark Road, Keighley, and Raj Mohammed Shabir, 32, of Neville Street, Keighley, were cleared of all the charges against them. Ali was found not guilty of rape and two offences of sexual activity with a child.

Shabir was cleared of two offences of sexual activity with a child.

Barristers for the three convicted men said they were not seeking an adjournment for probation service reports.

Michelle Colborne, for Shabir, said he was anxious to know his fate.

During the trial, the court heard that the teenage girl was groomed and sexually abused after she was picked out as vulnerable.

She told the police that Zackriya, known as Maz, was “evil”.

She said he raped her on their first meeting. He then apologised and told her he loved her and she was special.
