Odeon downgraded by 'at risk' register

Bradford’s former Odeon cinema has been downgraded on The Theatres Trust’s register of historic theatres at risk, although it is still considered a high priority.

The derelict city centre building was placed in the top ten last year due to redevelopment plans which would see it being demolished.

However, due to the inclusion of four new entries including the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, the Odeon has dropped out of those considered to be at the most risk. A spokesman for the trust said it was downgraded as more urgent, high risk, listed buildings are taking priority, and the planning application for the Odeon’s demolition is still pending.

They describe the Odeon as a “landmark” and “significant” building and state that “a new sympathetic use with further enabling development should be found”.

“If demolition were granted Bradford would lose its only ‘semi-atmospheric’ style super cinema,” the register states.

Every few days, theres a silly little story about something to do with the Odea.

For Christs sake, just do SOMETHING with it. All these little titbits of info irrelevant in the long run for the Odean.

Start doing something, or one day they'll be nothing left. nd we're not that far off.
