Thousands turned up to witness the first major city centre celebration of the lesbian, gay and bisexual communities at the weekend.
Presented by broadcaster and writer Amy Lame, the main Bradford Pride 2009 event saw performers entertain the crowds.
Dave Forrest, manager of the Equity Centre, said: “This is our third Pride, so we have gone from a wet afternoon in Peel Park to last year’s event at the university to these fantastic massive crowds in the city centre. It is a massive family event as well so we have got face painting and caricatures.”
As well as performances from a host of entertainers, including the Gay Abandon choir, Timberlina and Alexandra Queen of the Deaf World, a deaf signing drag act, the event also held health activities and stalls.
Mr Forrest said: “I’m really chuffed that there are so many here and there is such a positive atmosphere and a real partnership ethos.’’ Amy Lame said: “The fact there’s so many people here shows there’s strong support for the event.’’ For regular updates on Bradford Pride 2009 go to equitypartnership.org.uk.

This is a typical Bradford reaction and also as to why money is wasted. If any of the extreme isolated causes that can be squeezed into R & D then cash is a plenty. Most of the citizens of Bradford are not the saber rattling extreme type, whose only rewards are to watch and hear talk of millions of their hard earned money being squandered so some non-entity can get a slap on the back as they wipe their noses.

Whenever theres druggies, drunks or wannabee gangstas harassing people down there or breaking the law the rest of the time the authorities are nowhere to be seen.
But when theres a chance someone might be offended or something non-PC might go down, theyre suddenly all over the place.
