Westwood Park Diagnostic and Treatment Centre in Clayton Heights, Bradford, has closed until the end of June while maintenance work is carried out.

The closure will only affect the diagnostic and treatment centre; Westwood Park Community Hospital will remain open as normal.

To minimise disruption to patients during the closure, portable buildings have been set up in the car park where patients who have consultations booked will be able to see their specialist doctor or clinician.

All other patients who had diagnostic or treatment appointments booked for the centre have been sent letters offering them appointments at alternative sites in Bradford, depending on their clinical needs, such as Bradford Teaching Hospitals, Eccleshill Treatment Centre and the Yorkshire Eye Clinic.

Maintenance is needed to improve patient safety and comfort, and infection control. It is part of a wider programme of improvements which also includes the local community hospitals.

Bev Knaggs, manager for the specialist services at the centre, said: “The diagnostic and treatment centre is normally very busy so many people will have received letters asking them to attend a different place for their appointments.

“We have tried to keep disruption to a minimum by still holding consultations in the grounds at Westwood Park, but unfortunately people who have diagnostic and treatment appointments will need to go elsewhere while the work is carried out.

“If anyone has any queries about letters they have received or are unsure about anything to do with their appointment, they can call (01274) 425990.”
