Three concert organists will appear for a weekend celebration with the newly-installed Wurlitzer organ at Saltaire’s Victoria Hall.
Radio performer Nigel Ogden, American organist Jelani Eddington and Simon Gledhill will join local musicians for the two-day celebration from April 11.
It will mark the start of the first season of concerts featuring the Mighty Wurlitzer, the best example of its kind in the region.
It has been in the care of the Cinema Organ Society (COS) since the 1960s after it was removed from the Ritz ballroom in Brighouse. On Saturday, 200 dancers became the first members of the public to hear the organ at a Seaside comes to Saltaire event at Victoria Hall.
Jill Steel, whose late father Reginald Dixon was one of the world’s most famous organists, will cut the ribbon to mark the opening of the Wurlitzer concert season on Easter Sunday, April 12.
