Convoy's leader George Galloway MP visits Bradford

An ambulance filled with equipment will form part of a convoy from Bradford to Gaza.

The convoy is part of Viva Palestina, a national initiative in response to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Trucks full of medicine and practical aid will also form part of the convoy raised through the generosity of Bradford people.

The convoy’s leader, Respect MP George Galloway, was in Bradford for the project’s official unveiling.

Arshad Ali, Stop the War co-ordinator and member of Viva Palestina, said up to 30 volunteers from Bradford would travel with the convoy to help build schools, hospitals and homes in Gaza.

He said: “This really has been an effort of people in Bradford regardless of religion and political persuasion.

“Until the blockades are down we need to provide some sort of aid to those people so they can drink water and eat, otherwise they are going to starve. I will be taking my shovel so I can go and help – there’s people sitting down there in rubble.”

The convoy will include a British fire engine, ambulances and dozens of trucks full of practical aid.

It will leave London on Saturday, February 14, and travel for 16 days through France, Spain, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt and through Rafah into Gaza.

Mr Ali said: “Of course we do think about the people of Israel as well but Israel is a self-sufficient country with the resources to look after themselves.”

i agree with mr Ali, Israel is self sufficient and able to provide its own humanatory aid. but would this convoy be necessary if the terrorists inside Gaza continue (even during a cease fire) to send there rockets into israel?
i am sure that if there was as much effort put into ousting the terrorist and helping the palastine people do this i believe that israel would help to rebuild homes, schools, hospitals and even allow them to continue in a normal life.

The most recent violent, bloody and murdering assault on innocent men, women and children by the Israeli army is a crime against humanity. Their actions were condemned throughout the world, including a scathing attack by the UN chief Ban ki moon. Terrorists ? Look no further than the political factions in Tel Aviv.

Anything involving George 'Saddam Hussein is a great man' Galloway needs to be treated with extreme caution in terms of the aid getting to the right people and not the terrorists in Hamas.

George Galloway gives brilliant speeches in regards to Palestine and doesn’t have double standards when it comes to Israel unlike many parliamentarians within the House of Commons.

The people of Bradford should be proud for the good work done for the tragedy that has been going on for decades against the Palestinians, If only the politicians where as active as the people that elected them Israel would be held to account for their daily war crimes and breaches of international laws.

i agree that inoccent people who just wish to go about there daily lifes are been affected by the actions taken, but why do the terrorist hide in areas surrounded by inocent people, using them as shields. israel are counter attacking to try and cease the daily rocket attacks from gaza.
i do feel sorry for the inocent families in gaza as i do those israelies living within reach or current rockets been fired from gaza.

The main concern is that some aid convoys have been hijacked in Gaza and Hamas recently declared that all aid must be administered under their control, hopefully the intended target will be reached. Some posts on here are not relevant and seem to be an attempt to score political or religious points.
