A 22-year-old man has been jailed for two years for helping a drug dealer bag up and dish out his hidden stash.
Tanvir Ahmed showed police where more than £1,300 of heroin and crack cocaine was stored at waste ground on Princeville Street, Girlington, Bradford Crown Court heard today.
Ahmed, of Walden Drive, Heaton, Bradford, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs on January 19 last year.
Prosecutor Shamaila Qureshi said Ahmed was arrested at 11am when a wrap of crack cocaine was sold from a silver Vauxhall Corsa he was driving.
Ahmed led drugs squad officers to four plastic bags containing scales, heroin and crack cocaine.
He told police he was a disqualified driver being paid up to £300 a week to bag up drugs and chauffeur the dealer around.
Ahmed’s barrister, Ken Green, conceded he was in breach of a community order imposed by Bradford magistrates for driving while disqualified.
Mr Green said Ahmed had no previous convictions for drugs offences. He had behaved with “absolute stupidity” in agreeing to help the dealer.
“He has no intention ever, ever again of becoming involved with drug dealing,” Mr Green said.
Judge Roger Scott jailed Ahmed for 23 months for the drugs offence and a month on top for breaching the community order.
He was banned from driving for 12 months.
