A candle-lit vigil remembering those killed by the violence in Gaza was held in Centenary Square on Wednesday night.
More than 60 peace campaigners turned up to the vigil held by United 4 Palestine to highlight the ongoing conflict in the area.
Palestine Solidarity campaigner Jane Gregory said: “The people of Gaza are constantly in our thoughts.
“They are living in atrocious conditions, with no electricity, food, access to medical supplies, whilst all the time, bombs and missiles are raining down on them.
“Here in Bradford we are trying to find new ways of expressing our solidarity with the Gazan people during this crisis.
“Following on from the huge Bradford demonstration last weekend, many of us will be going down to London this Saturday.
“We must let our elected representatives know how strongly we feel about the massacre in Gaza.”
United 4 Palestine was formed last week as a response to the latest outburst of violence in the region and to highlight the ongoing troubles in Gaza.
Nafees Nazir, co-ordinator of United 4 Palestine, said: “We are lighting candles, as a symbol of light in the darkness, to show our support to the people in Gaza and get the message out to Bradford that we have got to stand up and do something.
“Too much blood has been shed already so let’s start getting some light at the end of the tunnel.”
The group consists of activists including Palestine Solidarity, the Stop The War coalition, Friends of Al-Agsa, South Asian People’s Forum and many faith groups.

According to The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs for the occupied Palestinian territory (OCHoPT) which was established in late 2000 by the United Nations:
From 2005 - 2007 (inclusive), as a direct result of the conflict, there were 1290 Palestinian fatalities (222 were children) Israel had 86 fatalities in this time of whom 8 were children. Over the same period 6297 Palestinians were injured (including 864 children) while 1183 Israelis (including 14 children) were injured.
There appears to be something of an imbalance here...Do you really think that Israel want to draw attention to their repressive actions and disproportionate aggression on the Palestinian people?

66% of Palestinians have said that they want to coexist peacefully with Israel. Perhaps if Israel behaved with more kindness towards the people it displaced, the other 34% would be more likely to accept its presence. The initial Balfour declaration in 1917 stated that "nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine". Sorry Albion, the Israelis have never kept to their side of the bargain as far as I can see. And while I feel sorry for what the Jews went through in the Second World War, giving them a chunk of someone else's country along with the right to settle there based purely on religion is a recipe for disaster - and one which I would have thought you of all people would have agreed with.
