Five new appointments have been made by expanding Bradford-based law firm Schofield Sweeney.

The firm, celebrating its tenth anniversary, has advised on four acquisitions since October, including the £5.2m acquisition of Morrel Consulting for Spice plc and a new listing on the PLUS market of NJD Capital.

Its projects team also remains busy having completed eight Public Finance Initiative and Local Improvement Finance Trust schemes this year and expects to see growth in the education sector.

Emma Garland has been promoted to partner in the firm where she specialises in corporate finance and general company law work.

Originally from Skipton, Emma joined Schofield Sweeney in 2006.

Graham Shaw has been promoted to associate having joined Schofield Sweeney’s projects team in 2007.

As a result of his experience in the education field, Schofield Sweeney is recognised as one of the country’s leading practices advising public and private joint initiatives on the establishment of academies and trust schools.

The firm has appointed three newly-qualified solicitors. Joining the corporate team is Keighley-born Stephen Millward, an old boy of Bradford Grammar School, and Miia Nummelam, who came to the UK from her native Finland in 1996 and joined Schofield Sweeney in 2005.

Janine Ward has also been appointed as a solicitor in the trusts and probate team, which is growing in response to demand from commercial clients.
