The Conservative MP for Shipley and Bingley, Philip Davies, has called for less sex education in schools.

In a speech in the House of Commons Mr Davies said: “Moral upbringing should be the responsibility of parents, not teachers.

“If we really want to tackle this problem it would be much better to look at the benefits and housing allocation systems than throw in more sex education for pupils in schools.”

We need better sex education in schools not less Phillip davies is out of touch with the times we live in now. With all the STD out there and people sleeping around and under age sex as well Kids need to be taught more not less other wise we be sitting on a health time bomb.
This story just highlight that the conservative are out of touch now with the people in Bradford.
The BNP are the only party now which talks common sense and that why there the 2nd biggest party in Bradford now and going to get bigger as time go on.

Whilst I agree with the first part of your comment the second part takes some understanding. Can you support your theory that the BNP are the 2nd biggest party in Bradford?

If you look at last years polls in Bradford. The BNP came 2nd in most of the council seat it was fighting to win.

Reduce the amount of sex education in schools and I think the benefits and housing allocation systems will be overwhelmed in a few years time!
It's true that moral upbringing should be the responsibility of the parents, but in many homes that won't be happening, less sex education in schools will mean almost no sex education at all for some kids.
I think Mr Davies simply likes appearing in the press. It was lap-dancing clubs last week, sex education this week, what will the press release be next week to pick up some column inches?

What always seems to be overlooked is that different cultures see differing levels of 'sex education' as being necessary. This should be respected; in that respect Mr Davies is correct. Chris, please give up on either your credibility or the BNP!

Dear me it worries me how stupid my MP is. The man would say pretty much anything to get attention. However Chris B, looking at the BNP's list of policies on their website, they're the only people making even less sense than him.

I can't get my brain around the incongruence of an MP who wants to visit a club with topless dancers on one hand - because it's 'not about sexual contact', yet wants to reduce sex education lessons on the other. While 10yr old kids have pole-dancing kits and knickers with the playboy motif on them maybe they should get more sex education lessons, not fewer - as well as therapy to increase their self-esteem, so that they don't feel they need to be constantly sexually alluring to have a sense of self-worth. Maybe Mr Davies would like to consider why young girls feel they have to 'put out' to get a boyfriend, and maybe he would like to think about the influence that the overt sexualisation of our culture has on these kids? Possibly he might one day contemplate how it affects men's views and values of women, and see the link between the hos and gold diggas of rap, and the way that women are encouraged to present themselves for male entertainment. But until such a time that he's prepared to think about this, maybe his time would be better spent campaigning for contraceptive jabs for teenagers...

Please get a new picture of the MP - he's beginning to look like the client of a lap dancing club...

Maybe they should concentrate on cookery (the true way to a mans heart), it could be known as "dumplingology"

You may mock Albion, but dumplings are a highly erotic foodstuff, surpassing even Pacific oysters for their aphrodisiac qualities.
Furthermore, the domestic temple of the home can provide a wealth of adult-oriented entertainment if one only knows where to look. Spearmint Rhino-style dancing cannot compete with a cheeky mop-and-bucket routine delivered with a coy smile. (Mr Walker excels at it, and my floors are so clean they shine like patent leather..) ;-)

Don't tell Mr Davies tho. He'd only want to stop by 'out of curiosity' (of course!) and then try to ban domestic science :-)

The challenge laid down by government is for society to tackle health inequalities and encourage people to thrive and reach their best potential. However the gap between the best and the worst is widening. It is within this environment sex education becomes part of healthy schools. It is taught by people like myself trained and dedicated to teenage health. The programme is designed to encourage discussion on relationships, respect, and the consequencies of their decisions and behaviour choices.Sex is not promoted or encouraged.I would like to invite Mr. Davies to join me for my next sessions. It may make him aware some youngsters need help they do not get anywhere else.Dilys Bruce Teenage Health Nurse Shipley.

I imagine most kids would rather die than have their parents give them a talk about the joys of sexual intercourse. I don't think parents would relish the task either.(I've a good ten years before I have to get round to this). To ensure the message is consistent I'd agree with most posters on here that it should be tackled in the classroom. I therefore deduce that this MP is two condoms short of a packet.

I thought the Monty Python Meaning Of Life film covered it quite well.
