Ceremony marks 90th anniversary of Armistice

A remembrance event commemorating the 90th anniversary of the Armistice took place at the cenotaph in Undercliffe Cemetery today.

An integral part of service, at the stroke of 11am, was the traditional two-minute silence to mark those who died fighting for their country, heralded by the reading of the Act of Remembrance and playing of the Last Post.

A number of veterans of previous conflicts were in attendance, as were representatives of the Royal British Legion, Bradford Council and West Yorkshire Police.

The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Howard Middleton, marked the occasion with the laying of a wreath of poppies. Further tributes were laid by pupils from Hanson School and the Bingley and Airedale and Idle and Greengates branches of the Rotary Club, as well as the British Legion.

Standard-bearers from the Prince of Wales Regimental Association, the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers' Regimental Association and the Royal Navy marched ahead of the crowd on its short journey to the cenotaph.
