A substantial amount of cannabis was seized after a police raid on a bookmakers in Bradford.

The drugs were found along with a set of scales and some bags at the William Hill shop in Carlisle Road, Manningham.

Another property in Carlisle Road was searched but nothing was found.

Officers from the Bradford district drugs team and the Manningham and Toller neighbourhood policing team (NPT) had received reports from residents concerned about possible drug dealing in the area.

People at both addresses were searched by officers but no-one was arrested during the raids which took place on Monday.

Inquiries are ongoing and CCTV footage from the bookmakers is being examined.

Sgt Chris Day, of the drugs team, said: “We are working in conjunction with the security department of William Hill’s bookmakers to find out who is responsible for the drugs being on the premises.

“I would appeal to anyone who has any information about it to contact us.

“We work daily with members of the community and the local NPTs to tackle drugs issues.

“It is only by people sharing their suspicions that we will beat drug dealers.”

A spokesman for William Hill said: “We cannot comment on a specific case but the Association of British Bookmakers will sometimes offer a substantial reward for information that leads to conviction for any crimes that happen in our shops.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
