Two men have been arrested in connection with a stolen car which was set alight and started the fire that destroyed a Bradford textile mill.

The 22-year-old and 24-year-old men, both from Bradford, are now on bail while police inquiries continue.

The huge fire started at the Jack Walker and Sons wool mill in Listerhills Road earlier this month after the distinctive silver Chevrolet Captiva was dumped next to it and set alight.

It was discovered by police at the same time as the burning building.

Police and fire investigators trawled through CCTV footage before establishing that the car fire set light to the building.

The blaze caused Listerhills Road to be closed as firefighters battled through the night in a vain bid to save the building.

Nearby firms were left without gas and electricity as supplies were cut off for safety reasons and structural engineers from Bradford Council were called to the site. The building had to be demolished days later.
