Knitters cosy up for charity’s campaign

Knitters converged on Sainsbury’s in Greengates to knit little woolly cosies and raise money for Age Concern.

As part of the Big Knit Campaign, the supermarket is placing woolly hats on Innocent smoothies from November 5 and for every one sold Innocent and Sainsbury’s will donate 50p to Age Concern.

A spokesman for Age Concern said: “At Age Concern we know winter and the cold weather is a source of worry for many older people.

“Funds from the Big Knit can provide many vital services to help people in your local area combat the cold and stay warm this winter. So pick up your knitting needles and do your bit to help.”

Meera Sodha at Innocent said: “The Big Knit is a really good way of using your knitting skills to help local older people keep warm this winter.

“Last year was a huge success and we want to make this year even better and we are really looking forward to working with Sainsbury’s and Age Concern again.”
