A haunting exhibition of photographs depicting the former High Royds psychiatric hospital in Menston is to become a permanent feature.

Hundreds of visitors have flocked to see the displays at The Great Little Coffee Shop in Guiseley and High Royds Sports and Social Club in Menston.

Reflecting On High Royds charts the chequered history of the hospital, which was open for just over a century.

It was launched earlier this month by Haworth photographer Mark Davies and has proved so popular that it is now to continue indefinitely.

Mark, who has taken a series of photographs of the hospital, launched the exhibition after a website he set up about High Royds received thousands of hits from all over the world.

High Royds is now a housing development.

Mark’s website is at highroyds hospital.co.uk. The coffee shop in Guiseley is open between 9am and 5pm Monday to Saturday and the Social Club at High Royds is open during the week from 7pm until last orders.
