This huge scarecrow will be among 75 wacky creations at Baildon’s first scarecrow walk next month.

Put together for the Baildon Carnival, the eight-foot creature will be displayed in the garden of a home in Moorland Avenue during the scarecrow walk on Saturday, September, 13.

Others will be balanced on roof tops or sat on benches throughout the day.

Organised by the Baildon In Bloom committee, the scarecrow walk has been supported by local schools and community groups.

Ron Bairstow is a spokesman for Baildon In Bloom. He said: “We are branching out with a completely different project, a wacky scarecrow walk in seven different areas around the village. Each area will feature scarecrows in all shapes and sizes.”

He said pupils had been busy putting together inspired creations.

He said: “We decided that we should try and get the whole of the community working together and different suggestions triggered off many good ideas but it was decided to go ahead with the scarecrow walk. Churches and businesses have provided individual scarecrows. There is over 75 done to date. It could be one of the biggest events Baildon has ever seen.”
