A Bradford man has been charged after a father and son were killed in an M62 crash.
Imran Hussain, 31, of Como Avenue, off Duckworth Lane, was charged yesterday with causing death by dangerous driving, driving while under the influence of alcohol and making threats to kill.
He was due to appear before Rochdale Magistrates’ Court today.
Gary Proctor, 47, and his son James, 16, of Wakefield, were critically injured in the collision, which happened just before 6am on the M62 westbound on Sunday.
They had just passed Birch Services in their Fiat Punto when their car collided with an Audi Quattro. They were taken to hospital by ambulance but were pronounced dead.
Catherine Proctor, 44, was also seriously injured in the collision. She is in a stable condition in hospital being treated for broken ribs and a broken arm.
Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward “urgently”.
Inspector Andy Hudson, who is leading the inquiry, said: “This is an absolute tragedy for this family who were going to Manchester Airport to start their summer holiday in America. Our thoughts are with them all. We need anybody who saw the Audi being driven along the westbound carriageway of the M62 to get in touch.”
