TO CLEAN up where dog owners do not, Lewisham council has bought a £10,000 canine friend.

In just over a week, FIDO has been called out more than 50 times to respond to complaints of dog fouling.

The petrol-run buggy sucks up the offending matter and disinfects the area.

The council's environment assistant deputy, Paul Morris commended FIDO's cleaning skills but said the main thing was for dog owners to “bag it and bin it or face being fined”.
