Sadness as pets stolen

2:06am Friday 18th April 2008

Two guinea pigs belonging to a 13-year-old girl were stolen from a back yard in Skipton.

North Yorkshire are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which occurred between 11pm on Tuesday and 7.30am on Wednesday.

A police spokesman said a cage containing the two guinea pigs was taken from a back yard in Brougham Street.

The guinea pigs are both black, one with white patches and the other with ginger patches.

The cage also contained two feeding bottles and a water bottle.

A police spokesman said: "The pets belong to a 13-year-old girl who is understandably upset."

If anyone saw anything suspicious at the rear of the street between those times, or knows anyone who has recently got two guinea pigs of a similar colouring please contact Skipton Police Station on 0845 6060247.
