Detectives are warning owners of expensive cars to keep them away from prying eyes after thieves tried to steal a Porsche.
The raiders broke into a house in Woodhouse Lane, Brighouse, by jemmying open a back window and then got into the adjoining garage, where the Porsche 997 turbo, valued at £120,000, was parked.
The burglars were unable to find the keys and they fled the scene when they were disturbed by a neighbour, at 4am today.
Detective Inspector Tony Nicholson, of Calderdale CID, said: "The owner had done the right thing by making the car as secure as possible in a locked and secure garage and hiding the keys."
Anyone with information about the break-in is asked to call (01422) 337085, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
