Two women are staging a ball in aid of charity after the death of a close friend's baby.
Helen Gilert and Penny Summersgill, both 38 and from Oakworth, Keighley, decided they would raise money to help Women for Women, which tries to improve serious conditions that affect women and their babies.
They have signed up to take part in a 370km gruelling bike ride across Cuba for the charity in November, but first they must raise a total of £6,000.
Ms Gilert said: "We have decided to hold a black tie ball, to raise the £3,000 each that the charity asks you to pledge before you can take part in the bike ride.
"Women for Women is a really good cause that a lot of people out there connect to. Everybody knows somebody who has been affected by pregnancy and birth problems, so we think this is a cause people will want to help us with."
Women for Women raises funds and awareness and provides research and training to improve conditions like miscarriage, stillbirth, infertility and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.
The ball is set to be held at the Hilton Hotel on Saturday, April 5, when a Champagne and Diamond will see ball-goers given a diamond upon the purchase of a glass of champagne.
There will be 150 diamonds' to give away, but only one of them will be worth £1,500.
Tickets cost £50 from Mrs Gilert on 07733 355472 or by e-mailing Mrs Summersgill at penny@esstex.com.
