A Bradford company has rounded off a bumper Christmas giveaway by handing over £20,000 to a hospice.

This brings the total of Christmas donations from Sovereign Health Care to £75,000.

The not-for-profit company, based in Manningham Lane, which provides health-care cash plans to private and corporate clients throughout the UK, has already given cheques for £5,000 and £10,000 to good causes across the Bradford district over the festive season.

Charities which have benefited range from cancer care to a sports association for people with disabilities.

The final Christmas donation has been given to Manorlands, the Sue Ryder Care hospice in Oxenhope.

The hospice has a complimentary therapist, Kath Booth and a team of volunteers who provide things like massages, reflexology, reiki, Indian head massage and hand massages for both the inpatient and day therapy unit patients and patients in the community. The therapies are available at no charge to the patients and to carers and the families of patients.

This money will be enough to pay for 500 sessions of complimentary therapy.

Jodie Shepherd, area fundraising manager for Manorland, said she was thrilled with the donation.

Over the last 14 years Sovereign has regularly made donations to Manorlands, giving more than £220,000 towards the cost of patient care.

Mr Lewis said: "The team at Manorlands does a fantastic job which is very warmly appreciated."
