HUNDREDS of people lined the streets of Great Horton Road this afternoon to catch a glimpse of heavyweight boxing superstar Tyson Fury, as he visited a popular Bradford restaurant.

‘The Gypsy King’ stopped off at Mr T’s restaurant in Great Horton Road to meet the staff from the restaurant and distinguished guests, and also sample a meal and milkshake named in his honour.

As all global stars do, 6ft 9ins Fury was fashionably late for the visit, and crowds swelled outside the restaurant as anticipation grew for his visit.

Undefeated former heavyweight champion Fury, 30, from Manchester, recently battled back from serious mental health issues following a drugs ban, and shed 10st to get back in shape for his bout against WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, which ended in a controversial draw.

He is the second boxing megastar to visit Mr T’s, following the visit of Floyd Mayweather Jr in March 2017.

When Fury arrived at the restaurant he was met with huge cheers from the waiting crowds, before being ushered into the restaurant.

During the visit, he posed for photographs with staff from the restaurant, before tucking into a Gypsy King Burger and a Gypsy King Milkshake, both named in his honour by the restaurant.

The milkshake, which contains banana, Ferrero Rocher and banana syrup, got the seal of approval from Fury.

After chatting with staff in the restaurant and posing for more photos, Fury made his way out of the restaurant and onto the An Evening with Tyson Fury event being held at the Six Acres Pub & Restaurant in Drighlington.

Tauseef Malik, owner of Mr T’s, said the visit came about after Fury heard about the restaurant from Floyd Mayweather.

He said: “We got a call from his promoter who said he wanted to come to visit the restaurant.

“He had heard about us from speaking with Floyd Mayweather.

“We decided if he is coming we will also make a milkshake and a burger in his honour.

“I was amazed when I heard he wanted to come visit.”

Other guests at the restaurant included Bradford boxer Steve Garber, who actually boxed Fury’s father, John Fury, twice, losing the first on points but winning the second bout by knockout.

Former heavyweight Mr Garber, 56, who now runs Worldwide Securities Services based in Valley Road, praised Fury for his “awkward” and “clever” boxing style, and when the two were reunited in the restaurant they shared a laugh and a joke.
