More than 20 state-funded primary schools in West Yorkshire have fallen below the Government’s so-called ‘floor standard’.

Schools are considered to be under-performing if fewer than 65% of pupils reach the expected standard in reading, writing and maths, or if they fail to make sufficient progress in the three key areas.

The new analysis showed that 21 schools in West Yorkshire had failed to meet the floor standard in 2017/18, including two in Bradford.

But neighbouring authorities fared worse, with Leeds having eight schools that failed to meet the floor standard and Kirklees having seven, including one in Heckmondwike.
