A MAN has been rushed to hospital after he was hit by a car earlier this afternoon.
Police were called to the incident on Rooley Avenue, close to the Shell garage near Staithgate Roundabout, at around 1:56pm.
The crash involved a blue soft-top Mercedes and a picture shows significant damage to the car's windscreen.
Officers cordoned off the area following the incident.
One woman said at 4:47pm on Facebook: "Still blocked off, just had to walk home as no buses running on top road."
The man was taken to hospital, but there are currently no details of his injuries yet.
