AN EAST End boozer has been deliberately set on fire.

City detectives are now hunting for the fire starters after emergency services rushed to the Westburn Bar on Carntynehall Road, Carntyne at around 5am on Saturday.

Following a joint investigation between police are fire services the incident is being treated as wilful.

From CCTV enquiries so far, two men are seen outside the premises at the time of the incident. They appear to have used an accelerant to set the building alight.

They are then seen making off from the scene towards a nearby footpath.

The first suspect is described as of medium build and wearing a striped hooded top, a baseball cap and dark trainers.

The second suspect is described as of medium build, and wearing a dark hooded top, a baseball cap. Dark trousers and white trainers.

Detective Constable Lyn Stewart, from Shettleston CID, said: “We are appealing for anyone who was in the area of Carntyne Road in the early hours of yesterday morning, and may have noticed two men matching the above descriptions acting suspiciously, to get in touch.

“We would also ask any motorists with dash-cams to come forward as they may have captured footage which could be of interest to our investigation.
