A WOMAN sustained a serious head injury after the horse and cart she was driving was clipped by a car.
Police are appealing for witnesses the road traffic collision which occurred in Oxford Road, Gomersal, at around 7.30pm on Friday, August 17.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "A horse and cart was travelling along Oxford Road, close to Gomersal Primary School, when a silver car overtook and clipped the cart causing the horse to bolt.
"The rider was thrown from the horse and suffered a serious head injury,
"The woman in her 30s was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where she remains. Her condition is described as serious but not thought to be life-threatening.
"Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information is asked to contact the police via 101 quoting log number *1770 of 17 August."
