POLICE are hunting a witness after a man was struck with a torch on a busy city street.

Two men were involved in a verbal dispute before one of them struck out at the other on Upper Brook Street, Winchester on August 15 between 6pm and 6.50pm.

The victim, a man in his 20s, suffered facial injuries as a result of the incident and was taken to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital for treatment.

Officers have been told that a smartly dressed man came running over from the direction of the Brooks Shopping Centre delivery area, and we would like to speak to him about what he saw.

This man is described as:

• Asian

• Aged in his mid 30s

• 5ft 11ins tall

• Wearing a pale shirt and pale suit trousers

Hampshire Constabulary also want to speak to anyone who may have information about the incident.

It also confirmed, a 20 year-old man of no fixed abode has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, and remains in custody at this time.
