THOUSANDS of people lined the streets for the annual seaside carnival.

All the fun of the fair arrived in Southend last night at the seafront.

There was plenty of fun to be had and the carnival procession did not disappoint at all.

There were lots of colourful floats and entertainers who took to the streets to wow the crowds.

Organisers have spend months and months working on the annual event.

The crowds, families and visitors cheered as the procession past them in the Southend streets on Saturday night.

All the colours, sounds and sights of the fair and carnival filled the streets of the seaside town as the parade roamed the streets, with about 60 floats and performers.

The procession will included music, dance displays, bands and big costumes.

The procession started at 6.45pm at Southchurch Park, Southend.

It reached City Beach on the seafront at about 7.30pm and finish at the seafront at Shorefield Road at about 9pm.

Organisers said thanks those involved.

Garry Lowen, 60, carnival chairman said: "We had such a fantastic night with between 20 and 25,000 people out to see the event.

"It was one of our best attended carnivals for the last few years.

"Huge thanks to the people of Southend who came out to support us, they have made a difference to the charities collecting.

"A lot of people put a lot of hard work in such as entertainers and my team."
