A FESTIVAL featuring tribute bands has been a huge success at West Yorkshire fire headquarters at Birkenshaw.

The event held today until late into the night is to raise money for the Firefighters Charity and has featured tribute bands for Little Mix, Pink, Robbie Williams, Ed Sheeran, David Bowie, the B-Gees, the Beatles, Cold Play and Take That.

Organiser Dom Furby, retired fire officer and now a company member for the Firefighters Charity said he was thrilled at the attendance.

"We opened at 1pm and by around 5.30pm there had been at least 3,000 people through the gates.

"The fundraiser goes on until 10.45pm so there is still plenty of time for people to come along and enjoy the music.

"The big draw is Take That which takes to the stage at 9.20pm.

"There are also children's rides, bouncy castle, food, a bar and picnic area," he said.

"We want to thank homeless charity Calderdale Smartmove for their help with this. It has taken a lot of organising.

"It's the first time we have done anything like this and it has been done in conjunction with the celebrations of 75 years of the Firefighters Charity."

The event is being held at Whitehall Road West.

Tickets on the gate cost £15 for adults and £12 for children with family concessions.
