A HOME discounts business is to officially open a new factory shop in Bradford with funding help from the Leeds City Region LEP Business Growth Programme.

Brothers Suresh and Raj Handa, joint managing directors of Lassic Ltd, relocated the business to new premises in Bradford, including their new Home Discounts factory shop, from Huddersfield.

The new premises at the former Hallmark warehouse on Dawson Lane will be officially opened at a special ceremony by the Lord Mayor of Bradford Councillor Zafar Ali on Monday.

Lassic Ltd t/as Home Discounts is an importer and online retailer of furniture and home wares, selling items online to the general public and to high street businesses across the UK.

The LEP’s Business Growth Programme offers businesses grants of between £10,000 and £500,000.

The funding can be spent on buying land, equipment or research and development to enable businesses to grow. To receive the funding the businesses need to demonstrate they will be creating jobs.

Bradford Council have been working with the business to offer them support and advice with their application for their successful funding bid.

Home Discounts was awarded more than £100,000 to help with their expansion. So far they have created 20 jobs in the Bradford district and are planning to recruit more this year.

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Regeneration, Planning an Transport, said: “This is excellent news for Bradford. We are happy to offer any assistance we can through our Invest in Bradford team who will advise on what support and funding may be available from the Council or external bodies like the LEP.”
