A 90 YEAR old man from the London area died yesterday (Thursday) in a collision between two cars on the A65 close to Skipton Golf Club.
The road was closed in both directions shortly after 10am when a grey Mazda 3, driven by the 90 year old and travelling towards Harrogate, collided with a grey BMW X1 being driven towards Gargrave.
Police say the 90 year old man was pronounced dead at the scene while the occupants of the BMW, a 72 year old man, and a 69 year old woman, from West Yorkshire, were taken to hospital with serious, but not life threatening, injuries.
The road was closed until just after 4pm to allow police and emergency services to deal with the incident and investigation.
Anyone who saw the collision, or the vehicles before it happened, is asked to call the non emergency 101 number and ask for traffic constable Alison Hoyle, of the Roads Policing Group at Skipton, or email alison.hoyle@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk - quoting reference number 12180152501.
