A FAMOUS ex-footballer is to make an appearance at a local football club’s funday this weekend.
Lee Sharpe, famous for his time with Manchester United and also known most recently for a name-check in The Inbetweeners series, will attend Fairbank United FC’s Fun Day on Saturday.
The Girlington based club, which has a number of junior teams and a merged senior side, is running the event for the first time in three years, having been put on annually between 2009 and 2015 (Above: Tufail Ahmed, volunteer at the last event).
Sharpe, who also turned out for England, Bradford City and Leeds United, will be available on the day for autographs and selfies.
The Fairbank Fun Day sees a number of organisations come together, such as McDonald’s and the Girlington Welfare Association, to provide a day filled with fun activities.
This includes a vast array of inflatable rides, face painting and food stalls.
The Funday is at the Whetley Primary Academy on Whetley Lane, Saturday, August 18 between 4-8pm.
