SAINSBURY'S in Keighley – together with the Bingley store – has raised over £3,000 for a mental health charity.

The cash was coined-in, for The Cellar Trust, through a range of in-store activities – such as raffles and tombolas – and customer donations.

Also, supermarket staff worked alongside the charity to raise awareness of its work.

"It's been brilliant to work with The Cellar Trust over the past year," said Trish Rawson-Chad, the Sainsbury's Keighley charity ambassador.

"Mental health issues affect so many people and it's been important for us to help raise awareness of the vital support The Cellar Trust offers locally.

"It's also great to raise a significant amount of money to help make sure the trust can continue to deliver its important work."

The Cellar Trust supports people with serious mental health challenges across the Bradford district.

Andrew McCarthy, head of fundraising and development at the trust, pays tribute to Sainsbury's and its customers for their backing.

He added: "We rely very heavily on the support of local businesses, community groups and individuals to keep our services running.

"That support makes a big contribution to ensuring we can be there for people when they need help.

"Over 155,000 people are affected by mental health issues in Bradford district in any given year.

"Mental ill-health can have a devastating impact, but we offer people hope and help them to work towards recovery and build resilience for the future so that they can flourish.

"Sainsbury's has been great to work with and the support it's provided has been really important to us."
