ALL 11 employees at a Bradford-based firm have been made redundant, it has been confirmed.

Last month, the Telegraph & Argus reported how Virgo Home Improvements had closed down its offices in Caledonia Street, on the edge of Bradford city centre, amid rumours it had gone bust.

Now a statement had been issued by Armstrong Watson, a firm of accountants, business strategists and financial advisers instructed to assist with placing the company into voluntary liquidation.

The statement revealed that "a number of customers" had ordered items from the company and had paid deposits for home improvement work to be carried out.

Discussions are under way to see if these contracts can be carried out by an alternative contractor.

The statement from Armstrong Watson said: "Rob Adamson and Mark Ranson of Armstrong Watson have been instructed to assist the Director of Laura Anderson Limited with placing the company into creditors’ voluntary liquidation, following the business ceasing to trade with effect from 13 July 2018.

"As a consequence of the business ceasing to trade, all 11 employees have been made redundant.

"Laura Anderson Limited traded as Virgo Home Improvements (“Virgo”) from leasehold premises in Bradford.

"Virgo specialised in the installation of new and replacement uPVC products, such as windows, doors and gutters.

"The proposed Liquidators are aware that there are a number of customers who have ordered items and have paid deposits for home improvement work to be carried out.

"They are currently working with the Director to identify whether these contracts can be completed by an alternative contractor to minimise the disruption caused by the failure of the business.

"The Director has advised that as Virgo is registered with FENSA, any customers who have bought double glazing through Virgo will continue to be protected by FENSA, even after the closure of the business."

According to Companies House, the firm was incorporated on 6 September, 2001.

Any queries should be directed in the first instance to the proposed liquidators by contacting Armstrong Watson on 0113 221 1300 or emailing lauraandersonltd@armstrongwatson.co.uk.
