A DAUGHTER has spoke of her devastation after thieves stole a bracelet which contained her mum’s ashes.

Lauren Wake, 27, had her bag taken from her by a group of three or four males in Harold Park, Low Moor on July 28 at around 9.20pm on Saturday, as she sat on a bench.

Miss Wake, of Shipley, said her “whole life”, including her make-up and car keys, was in the bag, but she would have handed her car over in trade for the bracelet, which meant everything to her.

She said: “The only thing I’m bothered about is the bracelet. I’m really, really angry and upset – my mum’s ashes are on there and I can’t just get those back. I’m heartbroken.”

On the Pandora-style bracelet is a bead that had been specially fused with the ashes of Miss Wake’s late mother, Christina Wake.

Miss Wake said that her mum’s death in March 2015 happened suddenly, after being diagnosed with cancer only in January of that year.

After she received her diagnosis, Miss Wake’s mother began building up the charms on the bracelet so her daughter had something sentimental to remember her by.

This included giving her daughter her own music note and Eeyore pendants that Miss Wake had originally bought for her. The bracelet also had a locket containing a picture of Miss Wake’s mum.

Miss Wake said that she never usually took the bracelet off. But, on the day of the incident, she forgot to put it back on after taking a bath and so it was in her bag when it was stolen.

A Facebook post she put up in an attempt to find the bracelet has now been shared over 500 times.

She said: “I can’t believe how good everyone has been.

“I’ve had messages off people who I don’t even know, sharing their condolences and telling me they’d keep an eye out.”

Police confirmed they are appealing for information. A spokesperson said one of the males was believed to be wearing a light blue Berghaus jacket.

Another was said to be wearing a grey tracksuit. Anyone with information is asked to contact PC 1674 Sharry at the Bradford South Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101, quoting crime reference 13180373965, or use the live chat facility on the West Yorkshire Police website.
