A MAN was impaled on a railing at a Keighley playground while trying to retrieve a football.
The 38-year-old was using a tree to help clamber over the fencing when a branch broke and his arm was speared on a spike.
The man managed to free his arm, but firefighters had to cut through the railings to help him to safety.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics and then taken to hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening.
The incident happened in Arctic Street, Beechcliffe, at about 8.50pm yesterday.
Watch commander Greg Pearce, of Keighley Fire Station, said: "When we arrived, the man was being treated through the railings by paramedics.
"We used cutting gear to remove the railings."
