WHEN Barrington Holmes saw a family of ducks trying to cross a busy Bradford road, he decided he couldn't just sit back and leave the ducks in danger.

Mr Holmes, 40, stopped his car in Westgate Hill Street, near the 6 Acres pub, and performed a U-turn after spotting the brace of ducks trying to cross the busy B road on Friday afternoon.

He then stopped his car blocking the road, to allow the ducks to cross. When another vehicle started coming in the other direction, he flashed his headlights to get the other driver to stop.

His fellow road-user obliged, allowing the ducks to all get across the road safely and continue on their journey.

Mr Holmes, from Tong, said: "This isn't the first time, there's been a lot around the roads recently.

"I want to make people aware and to watch out for them. I've seen too many at the side of the road dead, it's very sad.

"Just a bit of awareness and careful driving can help, you've got to look after the wildlife.

"I couldn't just drive past, it would have been on my mind all night."
