THREE men charged in connection with a horror crash that claimed the life of a 22-year-old law graduate will stand trial at the end of the year.
Shumas Fakeer died when a blue Audi RS4 he was a passenger in crashed into a tree and lamppost outside the Ashfield Court sheltered housing complex in Bradford Road, Bingley, at around 4am on Sunday, February 26, last year.
Haaris Khan, 24, and Aamir Khan, 25, both of West Park Road, Bradford, are charged with committing an act with the intent to pervert the course of public justice, with the former also charged with causing the death of Mr Fakeer by dangerous driving.
Facing the same death by dangerous driving charge is another 25 year-old defendant - also named Haaris Khan - of Park Grove, Frizinghall, Bradford.
He appeared at Bradford Crown Court yesterday, where his defence barrister, Andrew Dallas, said a psychiatric report had confirmed his fitness to plead.
He will formally answer the charge during a pre-trial review hearing on October 9, with the trial for all three defendants scheduled to start on December 3.
