BRADFORD Council should use the newest technologies to tackle the “epidemic” of potholes in the district - according to the leader of the council’s opposition.
Councillor John Pennington (Bingley Rural) raised the issue of potholes during his first full Council meeting as Conservative leader. In a motion calling for an action plan to deal with potholes, Cllr Pennington said officers should at new technologies to deal with the issue.
The Council heard how the harsh winter had made the pothole problem particularly intense this year.
Cllr Pennington said: “Breakdowns due to potholes are at a three year high. In the last few years there has been a pothole epidemic. The Council has recently purchased a jetpatcher which can fix a pothole in a few minutes.”
Imploring the Council to continue looking at new technologies to deal with potholes, he said: “Get your jetpatchers out, and explore how technologies can give everyone in this district a level highway.”
The Council voted to continue looking at "preventative work" to prevent potholes happening and "exploring new ways" of making pothole repair more effective.
