Six Bradford Council parks have been named among the best in the UK.

Peel Park, Undercliffe; Harold Park, Low Moor; Lister Park, Manningham; Roberts Park, Saltaire; Central Park, Haworth and Cliffe Castle, Keighley, have all received a prestigious Green Flag Award.

The Green Flag Award scheme is run by the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy on behalf of the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and is the benchmark national standard for parks and green spaces in the UK. The inclusion of Cliffe Castle Park follows the Heritage Lottery Funded refurbishment work and re-opening last Christmas. Judging took place earlier this year.

The Green Flag award scheme, now into its third decade, is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible environmental standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent visitor facilities. Coun Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s executive member for healthy people and places, said: "We know how much quality green spaces matter to residents and visitors, and this award celebrates the dedication of staff and volunteer groups and the hard work put in to maintain such high standards."
