PUPILS from a Bradford primary school ended their school year on a high note by performing their music project at Bradford Festival.
High Crags Primary Leadership Academy was among a number of schools who performed at the festival’s schools day on Friday onstage in Centenary Square.
Around 60 pupils have taken part in the Band on the Run project to learn a new musical instrument, with the help of The Symphonic Brass of London.
Year 4 pupils have been learning both woodwind and brass instruments over a ten-week period with the brass band, which aims to inspire the next generation of musicians and has performed at prestigious venues across the UK.
The weeks of practice culminated in a performance at the Festival, alongside other schools including Thackley Primary School.
They played to a large audience gathered in Centenary Square to kick-off the festival with a rousing rendition of tunes they have learned in the past few weeks.
Jo Cornelius, principal of High Crags Primary Leadership Academy, said: “The Band on the Run project has been a fantastic opportunity for the children to experience something new.
“It has been wonderful to witness the excellent progress of our pupils in such a short space of time, and we very much looked forward to hearing their new found talents on show at Bradford Festival.”
