A CLECKHEATON pub is set to close its doors to customers for just over a month to allow a major refurbishment to take place.
The Obediah Brooke, on Bradford Road, will undergo a revamp and expansion costing £711,000.
The work started on Monday, although the pub will remain open until the end of trade on Sunday, July 22, reopening again on Monday, August 27.
The pub’s operator, Wetherspoon, has purchased a neighbouring building, a former bank, to allow for the extra space and add a first-floor area with views to Albion Street.
Inside the pub, which will be completely redecorated, there will be a new colour scheme, carpets, seating booths, and lighting.
Pub manager Michael McDonald said: “Wetherspoon is spending just over £700,000 on the pub, providing further investment into the town. We are confident customers will be impressed by the refurbishment and extension of the pub.”
